SUMMARY:Difficult to treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections: from mechanisms to therapeutics
DESCRIPTION:Conference poster \n \n  \nCONFERENCE\nJanuary 22 at 11.30AM\nRoom N-833\nUniversité de Montréal\, Pavillon Roger-Gaudry.\n2900 boul. Édouard Montpetit (Chemin de la tour)\, Montréal. \n  \n  \n  \nProfessor Dao Nguyen\nProfessor\, Department of Medicine\, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences\, McGill University. Scientist\, RI-MUHC (Translational Research in Respiratory Diseases Program) . \nMICROBIOLOGY\, INFECTIOLOGY AND IMMUNOLOGY \nFor our next departmental seminar\, to be held on Thursday\, January 22\, 2026\, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Dao Nguyen (M.D.\, M.Sc.)\, invited by Professor Yves Brun. \nThe presentation will be given in English. \nDr. Nguyen studies the molecular microbiology of Pseudomonas aeruginosa and other infectious biofilms\, focusing on chronic airway infections in cystic fibrosis. Her work focuses on antibiotic tolerance mechanisms and host-pathogen interactions\, with the aim of identifying therapeutic approaches to improve bacterial clearance. \nBelow is a summary of his presentation. \nDifficult to treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections: from mechanisms to therapeutics \nBacterial infections that are refractory to antibiotic treatment lead to poor health outcomes. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a major opportunistic pathogen that causes a multitude of difficult-to-treat human infections\, both acute and chronic. P. aeruginosa not only displays intrinsic resistance to many antibiotics\, but also antibiotic tolerance and host-evasion strategies. The Nguyen lab investigates bacterial mechanisms and host-pathogen interactions that contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic airway infections in individuals with cystic fibrosis\, as well as novel therapeutic approaches to improve P. aeruginosa clearance.

SUMMARY:Lipid biosynthesis in T-ALL
DESCRIPTION:Poster_22-01-2026 \nYou are cordially invited to the scientific conferences of the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology . \n  \nDate: Thursday\, January 22\, 2026 at 9 a.m. \n  \nLocation : Pavillon Paul-G. Desmarais Pavilion\, room 1120. \n  \nSpeaker: Dr. Marissa Rashkovan\nAssistant professor-researcher\nDepartment of Pathology and Cell Biology\nUniversité de Montréal. \n  \nLipid biosynthesis in T-ALL \nCancer cells reprogram their metabolism to support rapid proliferation. Lipids are essential not only as structural components of cell membranes\, but also for signaling\, proliferation and energy storage. We propose to target lipids and membrane dynamics for the treatment of T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). \nThe conference will be held in French. \nGuest of : Dr Noël Raynal \nTeachers who would like to meet the speaker after the session are asked to contact : Pf. Badhwar ; Pf. Najmanovich ; Pf. Raynal \n \nWe’re waiting for you with good coffee!!! \nViennese pastries will be offered to the first 25 people to arrive! \n Don’t forget to bring your own coffee cups \n

SUMMARY:Visit from the International Scientific Advisory Board
