SUMMARY:Pre-implantation alcohol exposure: Long-lasting epigenomic\, transcriptomic and brain effects
DESCRIPTION:Scientific conference of the Department of Pharmacology and Physiology \nDate: Thursday\, January 29\, 2026 at 9 a.m. \nLocation : Pavillon Paul-G. Desmarais Pavilion\, room 1120\, Université de Montréal\, 2960 chemin de la Tour \nSpeaker: Serge McGraw \nProfesseur sous octroi agrégé\, \nDepartment of Obstetrics and Gynecology\, \nFaculty of Medicine\, Université de Montréal \nPoster_29-01-2026 \nPre-implantation alcohol exposure: lasting epigenomic\, transcriptomic and brain effects. \nPrenatal alcohol exposure can cause fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD)\, but its very early effects\, before implantation\, remain poorly understood. We have developed a mouse model of alcohol exposure at the pre-implantation stage (8 cells)\, which results in fetal growth retardation and brain malformations. These effects are accompanied by major perturbations in DNA methylation and gene expression in the embryonic brain\, associated with altered migration of certain neuron types and long-term behavioral deficits. The conference will be held in French. \nGuest of : Dr Noël Raynal \nMade possible by our platinum and gold partners. \nPartners \nTeachers who would like to meet the speaker after the session are asked to contact : Pf. Badhwar ; Pf. Najmanovich ; Pf. Raynal \n ☕We’re waiting for you with good coffee!!!☕ \n🥐Viennoiseries will be offered to the first 25 people to arrive!!!🥐 \nDon’t forget to bring your own coffee cups😊 \n
