For our next departmental seminar, to be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Dao Nguyen (M.D., M.Sc.), invited by Professor Yves Brun.<\/p>\n

The presentation will be given in English.<\/p>\n

Dr. Nguyen studies the molecular microbiology of Pseudomonas aeruginosa<\/em> and other infectious biofilms, focusing on chronic airway infections in cystic fibrosis. Her work focuses on antibiotic tolerance mechanisms and host-pathogen interactions, with the aim of identifying therapeutic approaches to improve bacterial clearance.<\/p>\n

Bacterial infections that are refractory to antibiotic treatment lead to poor health outcomes. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a major opportunistic pathogen that causes a multitude of difficult-to-treat human infections, both acute and chronic. P. aeruginosa not only displays intrinsic resistance to many antibiotics, but also antibiotic tolerance and host-evasion strategies. The Nguyen lab investigates bacterial mechanisms and host-pathogen interactions that contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic airway infections in individuals with cystic fibrosis, as well as novel therapeutic approaches to improve P. aeruginosa clearance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
