MICROBIOLOGIE, INFECTIOLOGIE ET IMMUNOLOGIE

Dans le cadre de notre prochain séminaire départemental, qui aura lieu le jeudi 22 janvier 2026, nous avons le plaisir d’accueillir la Dre Dao Nguyen (M.D., M.Sc.), invitée du professeur Yves Brun.

La Dre Nguyen étudie la microbiologie moléculaire de Pseudomonas aeruginosa et d’autres biofilms infectieux, en se concentrant sur les infections chroniques des voies respiratoires dans la fibrose kystique. Ses travaux portent sur les mécanismes de tolérance aux antibiotiques ainsi que sur les interactions hôte–pathogène, dans le but d’identifier des approches thérapeutiques permettant d’améliorer l’élimination bactérienne.

Difficult to treat Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections: from mechanisms to therapeutics

Bacterial infections that are refractory to antibiotic treatment lead to poor health outcomes. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a major opportunistic pathogen that cause a multitude of difficult-to-treat human infections, both acute and chronic. P. aeruginosa not only displays intrinsic resistance to many antibiotics, but also antibiotic tolerance and host-evasion strategies. The Nguyen lab investigates bacterial mechanisms and host-pathogen interactions that contribute to the pathogenesis of chronic airway infections in individuals with cystic fibrosis, as well as novel therapeutic approaches to improve P. aeruginosa clearance.
